Demolition day

DEMOLITION work has begun on a block of flats in Ecclefechan.

Contractors were pictured at Bluebell Court this week in the middle of ripping down the block.

It is understood it will take about four weeks to clear the site before the demolition team move onto Caven Place.

The latter of the Wheatley Homes South properties has not been occupied for several years, while the last tenant in Bluebell Court is believed to have moved out of their flat several months ago.

The two sites are not part of Wheatley’s wider regeneration plans for Dumfries and Galloway.

And once demolition works are completed, Dumfries and Galloway Council will assume ownership of the land

Future plans for the site are still to be agreed.
