Pharmacy celebrations

WIGTOWN’S new Welcome Pharmacy held a celebration last week at their new site at South Main Street.

The event acted as the official relaunch of the pharmacy at the town’s old post office.

The event attracted many residents and interim director of pharmacy at NHS Dumfries and Galloway Gordon Loughran looking on as guest of honour May McGowan, a retired counter assistant from the business cut the ceremonial ribbon.

Celebrations continued inside with cake and a tour of the pharmacies new facilities which include an open plan dispensary, a new soundproof consultation room and a 24/7 collection point.

GRAND REOPENING . . . May McGowan, a retired counter assistant from the business cut the ceremonial ribbon.

Following the event, a spokesperson for Welcome Pharmacy said:”The new site offers huge improvements for patients and customers alike. Straight away there is level access into the premises from the pavement they know some customers found the large step difficult in the old site.

“The new layout and the new systems are only part of the advanced pharmacy offering, designed to save the team more time, so they can deliver an increasing range of clinical services to the community.

“The Pharmacy offer Pharmacy First and Pharmacy First Plus services at all of their sites, meaning there is much more you can sit down and talk to a member of the pharmacy team about than ever before. Reducing the need for unnecessary GP appointments, and putting the initial gateway to appropriate pharmaceutical and medical care, or signposting to that appropriate care on your main street!”
