Road crash victim named

THE 23-year-old man who died following a road crash at Lockerbie last week has been named.

He was Archie Williams, who lived in the town.

His BMW 1 series was involved in the fatal collision with an articulated lorry on the B7076 near to its junction with the A709 just before midnight last Wednesday.

Sergeant Colin Ramage said: “Our thoughts are with Archie’s family and we are providing support to them as our enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances of this crash.

“We would appeal to anyone who was driving on the B7076 around the time of crash, who either witnessed it take place or who has any information that may assist. Any driver with dashcam footage is asked to please contact us as soon as possible.”

Officers are still trying to trace the driver of a red car travelling southbound on the B7076 prior to the crash who may be able to assist with the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 4261 of 29 October.
