Man disturbs housebreaker

A HOMEOWNER in Dumfries had a rude awakening early this morning . . . by a man trying to break into his house.

He was woken up just after 1 am by a noise at his bedroom window.

And when he got up to investigate, he disturbed a would-be burgular attempting to climb in to the property at Mavis Grove.

The man ran off when he was seen and officers are now searching for him. He is described as six foot tall and bald. He was wearing a blue zipper fleece jicket, dark trousers and had a small rucksack on his back.

PC Chloe Rice said: “This was an alarming attempt to gain entry to a house which was actually occupied through the night, when the occupants were asleep in bed.  We would ask that anyone who has any information about this incident gets in touch with us at Dumfries through the usual 101 number.”
