Till death do us part!

A DUMFRIES couple said ‘I boo’ in a spook-tacular wedding last week.

Horror buffs Vanessa and Lewis Black Drummond decided the perfect time to tie the knot should be on Halloween.

And they chose the Theatre Royal as their venue because it’s Scotland’s oldest working theatre. To add to the spooky vibes the theatre is known to be haunted, so it was right up the newlyweds’ street!

Vanessa – who wore a black dress – said: “We are huge horror fans, horror everything, every month is Halloween for us in our house.

“There was no way I was wearing a traditional white dress. It’s just not me, black all the way. I always knew I’d wear a black dress for our wedding.

“We are definitely not the traditional couple so we wanted to make our wedding so memorable for us and for everyone that attended.

“We thought the Theatre Royal would be a great place for our venue. I’ve been in many shows so the theatre holds a special place in my heart.”

The ceremony was autumnal and gothic themed with a musician playing heavy metal music on a grand piano.

For their evening reception, guests (or trick or treaters) were asked to wear Halloween costumes to celebrate.

Tattooists were on hand for anyone who fancied some new ink ,whilst horror movies were screened in the auditorium for guests who just wanted to chill and see a bit of gore.

FUN . . . it was fancy dress attire for guests

It was the day both Vanessa and Lewis dreamed – or had nightmares – of and it couldn’t have been better.

Vanessa added: “It definitely wasn’t your traditional wedding scene, that’s for sure! The whole day was absolutely amazing, we just want to do it all over again. Everyone couldn’t believe the amount of effort that went in to it all. People were blown away by it all.

“I was so nervous in the days up to the wedding but everything fell in to place and it was absolutely perfect.

“We decorated the venue by ourselves with the help of family and friends. We couldn’t be any prouder of ourselves and how everything turned out.

“Everyone keeps saying the best wedding award goes to us as they’ve never been to a wedding like it before!”
