Calside ready! Gladiator ready!

GLADIATOR star Steel delighted children and staff at Calside Primary in Dumfries yesterday.

He dropped in to congratulate them for their Children in Need fundraising efforts and to motivate everyone with fitness.

They won the visit from Steel, who was accompanied by Pudsey, after school secretary Deborah Copeland entered them in the draw.

He led older pupils in a motivation and movement class, then did meet and greets and photos for the whole school.

Deborah described it as a “really great afternoon”, adding: “It’s been exciting. The children have been hyper.”

And Steel said: “School fundraisers ready! I am thrilled to have teamed up with BBC Children in Need this year to get schools across the UK ready to take on fundraising challenges.

“This is an amazing opportunity to inspire the next generation to get active, improve their wellbeing while raising money for Pudsey. Everything that we raise together will help BBC Children in Need be there for children and young people when they need it most.”

Calside will mark Children in Need today with a pyjama dress up, class activities and a guess Pudsey’s birthday competition.
