THE man who died in Annan last Tuesday has been named as Joseph Ernest Johnston.
Emergency services were made aware of a fire at a property on Lady Street around 6.55 am that morning and after the blaze was extinguished the 58-year-old’s body was found within.
Detective Inspector Graeme Robertson said: “Our thoughts are with Joseph’s family and friends at this difficult time and everyone in the local community affected by his death.”
Meanwhile, a 33-year-old man appeared at Dumfries Sheriff Court last Thursday charged with a murder.
Gabriel Brown, 33, whose address was just given as Dumfries and Galloway, appeared in a private session and made no plea to the charges of murder and wilful fireraising.
