A LONG-SERVING community police officer has been praised after he left his role after more than a decade.
PC John Cowan moved on from his Moffat community police officer post this week.
He is now working for the rural and business crime prevention scheme, which is a national Police Scotland role.
Police officials stated that his former Moffat post is still vacant and is expected to be filled next year.
Meanwhile, PC Stephen Glendinning told members of the town’s community council on Tuesday that if they have any issues then to contact him directly in the interim.
On PC Cowan’s departure, PC Glendinning added: “He’ll be a big miss for us as he has a wealth of experience and has worked in this area for over 12 years. He’ll still be around for us to ask plenty of questions.”
Moffat community councillor Mick Barker added: “I’d like to thank PC Cowan for his many years of service to the community.”
