Management matters focus of college event

MANAGERS met at Dumfries and Galloway College (DGC) for an event on empowerment.

The campus in Dumfries hosted the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) session on Inspiring Leaders, featuring guests Renee Raper, CMI Scotland Regional Board chair; and Iain Tinniswood, of global engineering, management and development consultancy Mott Macdonald.

It was a chance for discussion, learning and networking, with the main theme- the ‘accidental manager’— a situation where employees find themselves in management roles without formal training.

Highlighting the challenges and opportunities that come with this common scenario, the evening underscored the college’s commitment to providing meaningful management development in partnership with the CMI.

They offer a range of CMI-accredited courses, specifically designed to bridge the skill gaps in management, including management training.

Principal Joanna Campbell said: “As the college continues to collaborate with the CMI, it remains dedicated to supporting the development of managers, ultimately strengthening our region’s business environment by transforming ‘accidental managers’ into strategic leaders.”
