A WEST-END star paid a visit to students at Razzamataz Dumfries earlier this week
Performer Christina Modestou has an impressive resume of theatre credits and is most well known for originating the role of Anne Boleyn in the original cast of SIX the musical.
Her other credits include national tours of Shrek The Musical, Rent, Little Shop of Horrors and We Will Rock You. On Monday she led the school’s inters and senior students through a high-energy ‘Shrek’ themed workshop, which is one of Christina’s favourite shows.
The performer said: “I’m delighted to be returning to Razzamataz to teach current students work from a show I adore.
“I attended a part time performing arts club very similar to Razzamataz when I was younger and attending classes in dance, drama and singing prepared me for my life as a performer by giving me lots of varied styles, from musical theatre to straight acting.
When you’re in the industry it’s better to have many strings to your bow. It also focused on the passion and love of performing, which inspired me to pursue it as a career.”
Principal of Razzamataz Debbie Hyslop was delighted to bring Christina to the school and said: “Working with industry professionals is a big part of what we do at Razzamataz. This will be incredibly inspirational for our students and shows what hard work and dedication can lead to.”
