Solstice walk

CELEBRATE the winter solstice with a walk to Barnkirk Point in Newbie on Sunday.

Organised by Annan History Town, the solstice walk and celebration is a wonderful opportunity to gather as a community, enjoy festive activities, and embrace the seasonal spirit.

Participants can get access a shuttle bus to Newbie from 3.45 pm to 5.15 pm, from Annan Harbour to Newbie. From there, it’s a short 15-minute walk to Barnkirk Point.

Once gathered at the Point there will be a warm and atmospheric bonfire as participants prepare for the torchlit walk, a one hour walk from Barnkirk Point to Annan Harbour, accompanied by music from The Solway Pipers.

On return to the harbour for hot food and festive cheer with festive music and carols by Spectrum.

Walkers are advised to wear warm clothing, waterproofs and sturdy walking boots and torches.
