Cadet Sergeant’s work recognised
RECOGNITION . . . colour sergeant Jim Halliday with his award

CADET Force adult volunteer Colour Sergeant Jim Halliday from the Lockerbie Detachment has received a prestigious award for his contribution to the force.

Ten volunteers from across the Lowlands of Scotland have received accolades from the young people they work with. And Colour Sergeant Halliday was shocked to receive a Cadet Adult Recognition Awards (CARA), acknowledging his dedication and selflessness in helping young people develop new skills, prepare for adult life and make friendships.

He said: “I am taken aback to win this award, it means a lot to me because it means I’m doing something right.

“I didn’t know my cadets were putting me forward for this, which I will thank them for in due course.

“It’s good recognition for all the adult volunteers in the West Lowland Battalion (Army Cadet Force). I can’t wait to let the Cadets know that their nominations weren’t in vain.”
