Christmas thoughts

by Minister Sandy Jamieson-Barr, of Hope Church, Annan, and Lighthouse Church, Dumfries

IN the Bible it says the angels appeared to the shepherds and declared, “Glory to God in the highest realms of heaven!

For there is peace and a good hope given to the sons of men”.

If we look at the World today we wonder will there ever be peace on the earth.

Currently there are 32 ongoing conflicts worldwide. We are constantly bombarded daily by the news of conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.

It can be quite depressing and we are not the ones who are suffering and experiencing the hardship of these terrible conflicts.

The sad reality is that there will never be peace on earth because there will always be evil men and men driven by greed and power.

The Bible doesn’t say that there will be peace on earth but peace and a good hope given to the sons of men.

God’s plan was that through his Son Jesus, the Prince of Peace, we would not only find peace with God but that we would receive his peace in our hearts.

The bible says for Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us.

Through him we can have peace, we may not have a Christmas that is without conflict but we can have a Christmas where we can have peace in our hearts with God if we ask him.
