Christmas cycling cheer

YOUNG people across Dumfries received bikes for Christmas thanks to the region’s largest social landlord.

Wheatley Homes South gifted 50 new bikes, along with helmets, lights and locks will be gifted to youngsters, many of whom are Wheatley residents

They want to promote active lifestyles, improve access to local amenities, and enhance overall well-being.

A new bike shelter has also been provided at the Summerhill Centre so bikes can be securely stored when attending activities.

Brain Lewington, from the Summerhill Community Centre, said: “This amazing initiative will undoubtedly bring excitement and joy to our local children and young people, all contributing to a healthier and happier community. These memories will last forever and bring new adventures and opportunities for each young person.”
