DOONHAMERS chief Peter Murphy reckons his Queens side looked like a completely different team for the last 20 minutes of their League One fixture against Stenhousemuir
Strikes from Reece Lyon and Adam Brooks had the Palmerston side 2-0 up with half an hour left.
But when Corey O’Donnell pulled one back for the visitors it made for a nervy ending.
Queens did well to hold on for three points and Murphy opted to focus on the positives when he spoke post match.
He said: “After being relatively comfortable, for that last 15-20 minutes it was just a bit edgy.
“(However), I think Brennan Dickenson and Adam Brooks formed a nice partnership.
“For Brooks to come here, in his first home game, and score is excellent. It’s a proper striker’s goal.
“When you look at the service from Brennan Dickenson, it’s exceptional. Hopefully we can keep Brennan fit now.”
Some positive news was shared on the injury front, while the boss also revealed that goalkeeper Jay Hogarth has been recalled by parent club Rangers.
Murphy added: “We had Zander Craik join us in training on Friday and Fraser Bryden joined us earlier in the week.
“We’ll maybe have Pharrell Willis back with us in the middle of January. Kai Kennedy, if everything goes well, could be the middle of February. But we need players now.”
On the January transfer window, he said: “Having had conversations, at this moment in time I don’t think there’s a lot of money available unless we can bring in a lot more fans.
“Hopefully today helps with that, we have the Annan game coming up as well. Obviously it’s result dependent, I understand that.
This Saturday Murphy’s troops travel to Kelty seeking revenge for the 5-1 home defeat suffered against the Maroon Machine in October.
He added: “It’s a still a sore one from the performance here where they won 5-1.
“We want to go up there and do ourselves justice and improve our away form.”
