ELEVEN community groups across the region — including the Oasis Youth Centre— have been given an early Christmas funding present from EDF Renewables UK.
Each group will receive a share of £20,000 from the 2024 Stranoch Wind Farm Sponsorship Fund, which was set up by EDF as part construction progresses at its Stranoch windfarm, located between New Luce and Barrhill.
One group benefitting from the scheme is the Oasis Youth Centre which is to receive £1500 towards monthly events nights for 2025 for young people in the area
Other groups set to benefit include North West Community Campus being awarded £2150 towards the school’s Paris trip; the Springholm community and food hub in Castle Douglas being awarded £2521 for the re-establishment of the Springholm Memorial Hall as the community’s central hub; and the Castle Douglas Community Information and Technology Centre getting £1500 to go towards rental of facilities in order to increase digital inclusion to individuals and families in need.
