HUNDREDS of free books have been given away to children across Dumfries and Galloway this year.
The initiative by Wheatley Foundation through its partnership with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has helped scores of under fives.
Among those were Lockerbie twins Max and Madeleine, aged three.
Their mum Catherine Harvey said: “The twins receive two books from the Foundation and we all love reading together. They enjoy having their own copies to look after, which makes it extra special.
“It’s so important to me to nurture a lifelong love of books and reading in my children, and receiving these books from the Dolly Parton Imagination Library makes every new book feel like an exciting event.”
