Roundabout works

ESSENTIAL drainage works will start at a busy Dumfries roundabout next week.

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking the scheme on the A701 at Tinwald Downs Roundabout from Monday, January 20, until Monday March 31.

It will be carried out under continuous 24-hour temporary traffic lights. Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout.

However, the scheme is weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

Amey say the works will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the drainage of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.

Behind the scenes on new Lockerbie drama

A NEW series based on parts of the Lockerbie Disaster is now showing on Sky this week. Featuring Colin Firth and Catherine McCormack, ‘A Search for Truth’ was inspired by the memoirs of Dr Jim Swire, who lost his daughter Flora in the 1988 tragedy. Filming took place in Scotland and Morocco in early 2024 and Annandale Herald editor Fiona Reid went on the set to meet the cast and crew and find out more about it.
