Hospital restrictions eased

VISITING restrictions at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary (DGRI) have now been lifted.

The move comes as respiratory illness levels in the community have improved, say NHS bosses.

And it means there are no longer any restrictions on the patients who can be visited, nor do visitors need to call the ward in advance of visiting. In addition, there’s no longer a need to wear face coverings.

However, officials say it is still very important that anyone who is experiencing any signs of symptoms of respiratory illness does not visit patients in hospital.

A spokesperson said: “The situation is being monitored closely, and restrictions may need to be reintroduced if deemed necessary to ensure the safety of patients, staff, visitors and services.

“Thank you for your continued understanding and support.”

Behind the scenes on new Lockerbie drama

A NEW series based on parts of the Lockerbie Disaster is now showing on Sky this week. Featuring Colin Firth and Catherine McCormack, ‘A Search for Truth’ was inspired by the memoirs of Dr Jim Swire, who lost his daughter Flora in the 1988 tragedy. Filming took place in Scotland and Morocco in early 2024 and Annandale Herald editor Fiona Reid went on the set to meet the cast and crew and find out more about it.
