ROAD works between the Cuckoo Bridge and Bloomfield roundabout will begin later this month.
Amey will be carrying out the works on behalf of Transport Scotland, from Sunday January 26 to Monday April 28.
Single lane carriageway closures and temporary traffic lights will be in operation between the hours of 7 pm and 6 am each night. The footpath will be closed from Sunday March 16 until Monday April 28 and a diversion route put in place utilising temporary signalised crossing points to the opposite side of the carriageway.
In addition the Dumfries bypass will be totally closed to traffic between 7 pm and 6 am on the following dates:
- Sunday January 26 until Tuesday January 28
- Sunday March 16 until Monday March 17
- Sunday April 27 until Monday April 28
This will require a diversion of traffic as follows:
- Eastbound traffic will be diverted south on A76 Glasgow Rd followed by A76 Glasgow St – A780 Buccleuch, A780 Church Cres, A780 Academy St, A701 Edinburgh Rd and A75 Bloomfield Rbt which is the diversion end
- Westbound traffic will be diverted via the same path as eastbound traffic but in reverse
Temporary average speed cameras and a temporary 30 miles per hour speed limit will be in operation from Sunday March 16 until Monday April 28. This is in place for the safety of pedestrians utilising temporary signalised crossings as part of their diversion route.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
