A NEW dementia-friendly community group is bringing together people from across Annandale for free fun activities and friendly chat.
Brydekirk Buddies was launched in early January by Alzheimer Scotland to give villagers a space to socialise and be more active.
The two-hour group, which meets every Wednesday morning in Brydekirk Village Hall from 10 am, is open to anyone in the local area.
The session offers help and support to people living with a diagnosis of dementia and their carers or loved ones, as well as those interested in finding out more about boosting their brain health.
Those who go along can take part in activities such as arts and craft, music and baking. There will also be plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits on offer.
Lynn Janssen, Alzheimer Scotland’s day opportunities leader for Dumfries and Galloway, said: “This is a free, fun and friendly new group that’s open to anyone in the local community – whether you have a diagnosis of dementia, are caring for someone with dementia, or you’d like to find out more about boosting your brain health.
“There’s no need to book ahead – just come along to Brydekirk Village Hall and we’ll be there from 10 am to 12 pm.
“There are lots of great activities to take part in, or you can simply come along for a friendly chat and a cuppa. It’s a great way to get active and meet new people, and our team are there if you’d like some information or support too.
“It’s a brand new group and we’re really keen to get the word out.”
