A75 works diversion to go through Eastriggs

DRIVERS can expect additional traffic on the low road between Annan, Eastriggs and Gretna this weekend.

The A75 at Eastriggs junction is set to close tonight and re-open on Monday morning as ‘essential resurfacing’ takes place.

There will also be overnight closures on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

Traffic heading east will be diverted via the B6357 Stapleton Road south after Annan before turning left onto the B721. After continuing through Eastriggs, traffic will re-join the A75 west of Gretna.

Westbound traffic will follow the route in reverse.Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking the work from today until Thursday February 6.

An Amey spokesperson said: “This work will require a full weekend closure at this location from 8 pm on Friday until 6 am on Monday, followed by overnight closures between 8 pm and 6 am each night between Monday February 3 and Wednesday February 5.

“Traffic management will be removed by 6 am on Thursday February 6.”Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Amey say a convoy system cannot be implemented during this scheme due to available road widths, which fall below the legal requirements.
