They lost 3-2 at Whitehills Park, despite holding a 2-0 lead during a stage of the first half.
Lochmaben opened the scoring on six minutes when Adam Davis fired a volley into the net.
Just before the interval the home side doubled their lead. Kieran Brown ran in behind before drilling a low shot past the Star ‘keeper Jake Gemmell.
However, Star responded well in first half stoppage time. Russell Williamson’s scored with a towering header from a corner kick to halve the deficit.
Just after the restart Dalbeattie equalised through Connor Potts, whose accurate left footed strike gave the Burgh ‘keeper Cruickshank no chance.
In a rare second half Lochmaben attack, Lennon Kerr headed over the bar at the back post.
And Star grabbed the winner in the final minute. When the ball fell kindly for Ewan Gourlay he lashed it high into the net from 12 yards.
Meanwhile in Lockerbie, Mids were on the wrong end of a 5-1 scoreline against Newton Stewart.
Following an excellent result against Creetown a fortnight ago, the Lockerbie side’s hopes were high of something similar against Newton in this league match.
But, as fate would have it, things did not quite go to plan. A lack of awareness with some slack marking saw the home side go a goal down after five minutes.
A gutsy recovery saw the homesters equalise through Ben Robson, who bundled home an excellent free kick from Connor Graham.
However, the Mids could only hold onto equality for a minute before Newton went back in front from, albeit, a suspiciously offside strike. Things were compounded five minutes later when Newton scored a third.
The first half was marred by three injuries to the Newton squad, one of which saw the lad stretchered off and taken to hospital. All at Mid Annandale hope it is not too serious and the player makes a speedy recovery.
The second half was quieter with not much happening of note and, although the Lockerbie boys defended manfully and were unlucky when Graham hit the bar with a free kick, Newton hit two more and ran out deserved winners.
