Hillhead VIIIs 2 – 3 Dumfries IIIs

DOMINANT Dumfries Hockey Club Men’s 3s won an early penalty corner, Callander passed to Law and he deflected the ball into the goal to get his first ever goal for the 3s.

A second goal followed when Bennett played a square ball to Drysdale-Mills who controlled and had a cheeky tap-in at the back post.

Hillhead had their best attack of the game when the striker hit a shot, but Turner denied the goal with his upper-arm.

In the last attack of the half, Drysdale-Mills played a strong pass into the D where Bennett got the deflection to give Dumfries a 3-0 lead at the break.

In the second half Dumfries were less dominant. Hillhead ran into the D, with GK Turner running out and they got a pass off, leading to open goal to make it 3-1.

The game got intense; Hillhead were awarded a penalty corner and Dumfries failed to scramble the ball out of the D, it was slotted into the bottom corner, 3-2.

With ten minutes remaining, Dumfries had to work hard, but the ten travelling players managed to see out the game.

The player of the match was Thomas Law who scored his first goal in the senior team at just nine-years-old!
