FORTY-five years after his dad led the cavalcade along Annan High Street and ensured the town’s boundaries were intact, Hayden Hodgson is set to follow in his footsteps as Cornet elect.

The 22-year-old funeral director, from Annan, has previously taken part in the marches festivities. He is a keen horseman and has competed for most of his life.

Hayden said: “I can’t put it into words, my dad (Jim Hodgson) is especially happy.

“I still don’t think it’s actually hit home because last year it ended up going to vote, so I’m still expecting that.

“It’s quite something, and it’s an honour to represent Annan.”

Hayden is excited for all of his upcoming duties and the opportunity to represent his home town at other marches around the South of Scotland.

He added: “I’m looking forward to all of the events, and I really can’t wait to get started.”

Vice convener George Campbell said: “We are delighted that Hayden has been chosen as Cornet Elect for 2025 and are sure he will carry out the role exemplary.”
