A SURPRISE visitor made an appearance at the Whitesands on Wednesday, much to the delight of residents.
A common seal pup was spotted on the island near the caul that afternoon and it later moved to the slipway near the Robert Burns Centre
However, passers-by became concerned about the pup’s wellbeing and members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue soon arrived to transfer it to an animal hospital in Alloa.
A spokesperson for the British Divers Marine Life Rescue confirmed yesterday: “This was a common seal pup that was found to be underweight and was taken to SSPCA Fishcross. It did have a tag from Fishcross on it so has been there prior to this.”
