Train line reopened after landslip

FULL rail services have been restored following a land slip near Beattock on Friday.

Cross border rail services on the West Coast Main Line which connects Glasgow and London, were hit by the landslip amid heavy rain and a yellow weather warning in the area.

The line was closed from 2.30 pm on Friday as engineers worked to restore the route.

An image posted by Network Rail on social media showed how a large section of track had been covered by the landslip. Avanti West Coast warned passengers there may be ‘short-notice changes’ on journeys to and from Scotland.

The line later reopened with trains would running at a reduced speeds between the destinations before further work was carried out on Saturday night.
