The Doonhamers, who had not picked up three points on the road since March 23 last year when they beat Alloa 2-0, earned what could turn out to be a vital victory at Links Park.
They triumphed 3-0 over the hosts thanks to two penalty kicks and a corker of a strike.
The deadlock was broken 20 minutes into the contest when Reece Lyon won a penalty after being bundled over inside the box.
Like away wins, penalties have not been Queens’ forte this season. And it was Adam Brooks who showed the bravery to step up. He fired low down the middle to open the scoring.
A second penalty was awarded ten minutes from time, Brooks stepped up again but this time Gill guessed correctly and dived to his left-hand side to make the save.
But from the resulting corner, Queens did manage to double their advantage as Harry Cochrane rifled the ball into the net from outside the box.
Well on course to eventually break their duck and get that elusive first away win of the league campaign, substitute Fraser Bryden secured the victory with five minutes remaining.
The striker was upended inside the box and for the third time in the game, referee Iain Snedden pointed to the spot.
Bryden got up to take it himself and sent the keeper the wrong way to wrap up the points.
