79 not out for Warriors
BIG WIN . . . the Annan Warriors team celebrate after beating Perthshire

THE Warriors hit the road for the final time in the group stages of the National Player to visit Perthshire Ladies last Sunday.

They knew that a good start and performance was going to be needed to clinch a semi final berth with one game to go.

And start well they did, when straight from the kick off captain for the day Mally McGeoch fielded the ball, stepped the first defender and raced clear, scoring within 30 seconds of the game starting.

This was swiftly followed with tries from Rhianna Parker-Clevett, Steph McCracken and a first in Warriors colours for Julie Warrick.

With a bonus point secured within 12 minutes, the Warriors kicked on to score a further four tries from Katie Morrison, Jane Haren, Niamh Ross and McGeoch claiming her second, while also adding two conversions.

Playing with the wind on their backs, the Warriors kicked off for the second half having made a number of changes. And they soon went on the attack.

The tries continued to come with scores from Kayleigh Warrick, Acacia Clash with her first Warriors try, Kirsty Barlow, Lexie Glendinning and McCracken with her second of the day.

McGeoch added a further five conversions.

Another big win and big performance from the Warriors which, barring a massive defeat in the last game, should secure them a semi final spot.

The best in defence were Kayleigh Warrick, Megan Cother and Joanne Clark, with shield of the match going to Lexie Glendinning.

In attack Mally McGeoch, Hannah Paterson and Rhianna Parker-Clevett all stood out, with sword of the match going to Ellie Smith who played her first game in a potentially new position of wing forward.

The Warriors now have three weeks off before facing Lismore at Violetbank on March 16.

Big shout as well goes to mascot Elijah and three brave supporters who made the trip.
