TWO book banks are launching in the region this week, in time for World Book Day (March 6).
Scotmid are setting them up at their stores in Dumfries and Castle Douglas.
And customers can pop in to donate or pick up books for free.
From fantastical fairy tales to bold biographies, all types of fact and fiction are welcomed.
The hope is that more children will find the joy of reading and families can share their favourite books with others.
Lynne Ogg, from Scotmid, said: “Books have the power to inspire, educate, and bring people together. Our Book Banks are a simple way to help more people discover the joy of reading. Whether donating or picking up a book, we hope this initiative will spread the love of reading and bring our communities closer.”
