New owners for chemists

STRANRAER’S Gordons Chemists is set to be taken over by the M&D Green Group.

The community pharmacy is one of nine pharmacies across Scotland purchased by the independent chain.

Founded in Glasgow in 1996 by current managing director, Martin Green, the M&D Green Group hopes to re-establish the pharmacy as the first port of call for patients.

Martin said: “We are a family business that has grown across Scotland by serving local communities with the services they want and need. The role of the community pharmacy has become more important in recent years and we’re committed to bring more valuable services to Stranraer.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming all the Gordons staff into the 650 strong workforce at M&D Green and are certain our new colleagues will enjoy working in the M&D Green Group and will thrive in our learning culture as we aspire to further develop a highly skilled workforce to deliver the future of community pharmacy as we continue to develop our NHS and private, clinical services including additional services like blood testing, travel clinics and hearing care. We will also continue to introduce technology to make ordering and accessing prescribed medication easier and more convenient for patients.”
