Crufts winners take a bow-wow

DOG owners from the region are celebrating a paw-some time at Crufts.

Seven local members of the Carliol Ringcraft Society, which is based in Carlisle and is one of the oldest ringcraft training clubs in the area, enjoyed success at the top dog event in Birmingham last week.

Jeanette Richardson and daughter Vicki Bryceson are delighted that their Old English Sheepdog Wee Mac won his limit class; there was a first place in the post graduate section for bearded collie Logan and owner Don Moir; Steph Marston-Pollock, Danielle and Sally Wilson secured a win in the post graduate class with whippet Luna; and Michelle Queen ‘s Keeshond Toki picked up a second in limit. They are all from Dumfries and Galloway but travel to the class in the city’s Currock House every Wednesday night.

It’s run by Jane Power, of Eastriggs, who said: “A big part of our membership lives in Dumfries and Galloway. Some of our members travel over an hour to get to the classes.

“Sixty dogs from the society attended Crufts & 90 per cent came home with a prize, some were interviewed for TV and others were seen in their various groups.

“The trainers and committee are very proud of their achievements. For some of the members it was their first Crufts and others were seasoned exhibitors.

Congratulations to all.”
