Library could re-open by end of month

REFURBISHMENT works to a Dumfries library should be completed by the end of the month.

Ewart Library, in the heart of the town, has been undergoing works over the past couple of months.

A council spokesman said: “The refurbishment works to the Ewart Library is progressing well with the works due to be completed by end of April.

“The completion date is subject to the extent of the repairs required as part of the mosaic floor tile restoration in the lobby that is currently underway.

“Other works progressing are as follows: Repairs and redecoration to windows. Internal decoration of lobby and cyber centre fully complete. LED lighting upgrade complete. Stonework repairs in progress. Cupola upgrade works to roof commenced. Archive storage system repairs in progress. Floor coverings and furniture to cyber centre to be undertaken in April.”
