Let’s pack out Galabank!
DERBY READY . . . Max Kilsby scored for Annan last weekend against Kelty Hearts

The 21-year-old believes the latest and final derby encounter of the season is that little bit more spicier due to both Annan and Queen of the South needing the points to secure their league ambitions.

And Kilsby wants as many Black and Gold fans to come along and give the team the backing against their neighbours.

He said: “What else is there to do on a Saturday than to come and watch the derby? Get yourselves down to Galabank and cheer us on, hopefully to victory.

“The atmosphere is just that little bit different for a derby. The intensity of the game automatically rises for a derby. There’s a lot of pride on the line.

“I’m hoping Galabank will be packed out for the occasion because there’s so much on the line. We’re desperate to win.

“This derby seems more important because it’s near the end of the season and both ourselves and Queens still have ambitions in the league. Three points at this stage will be massive. It’s a big game.”

Kilsby – who featured for Queens in the second half of last campaign – scored the leveller and set-up Luca Ross for the winner against Kelty Hearts last time out. The victory saw the Galabankies draw level on points with Inverness and move closer to the Fifers.

With five games of the season remaining, Kilsby knows it’s time to accumulate the points needed to survive in League One for another year.

“We were on a high after the Kelty win but we know it’s a long way to go and we’ve got to get more points. We’ve prepared as usual but we’ll be ready for Saturday.

“The gaffer told us the week before the Kelty match how big of a game it was and I thought we were the better side throughout. We played some good football and when we equalised I just knew we’d get a winner.

“It was my first goal since Cove at the start of the season. I’ve been dying to get back on the scoresheet, but to be honest I’m just happy to help the team win because it was a vital game.”

On his disappointing Palmerston spell, Kilsby said: “I was in and out of the team and probably wasn’t the best few months for myself. But that happens in football, some moves don’t work out as planned. But I’m back playing now which is the main thing.”
