The Doonhamers’ top goalscorer netted the opener in his first Dumfries and Galloway derby during the festive period at Palmerston. However, Queens fluffed their lines in the dying embers of the match with Annan levelling at the death thanks to Wullie Gibson’s spot kick.
Talking about the importance of the match, Brooks said: “I didn’t play in the away derby but I scored in the last one here which I felt we should’ve won but we let ourselves down.
“We need to go there and hopefully get the points. It’s a big game for the club with the play-offs in our hands.
“We’ll do all we can to go to Galabank and get the bragging rights back to Dumfries.”
Brooks was a star man in Queens’ latest 4-1 home victory over Inverness. The former Caley Jag netted twice – just like the last time against Inverness at Palmerston – and played through Jordan Allan for his goal.
And now with Queens in fourth spot, Brooks wants to keep it that way.
He said: “Our main ambition was to get to fourth spot as quick as possible. We’ve done that and now it’s about remaining in the play-offs. We need to keep pushing and hopefully we can get higher up the table. The higher in the league, the easier the play-offs are in my opinion.
“My first goal against Inverness was my favourite because it put the pressure off the game. It was a good time to get a goal.
“I hadn’t scored for four games or so. It was good to get the burden off the back as it’s not good going a spell of games without one.
“I was buzzing for Jordan because he deserves it as he’s worked his socks off for the team.”
