Police bow out of community council meets

POLICE are set to change the way that they engage with community councils in the region following a review.

It means officers will no longer attend meetings in person during the evening.

Superintendent Alison Wilson said: “Following a review of the number of community councils facilitated in Dumfries and Galloway, it was agreed that the chairperson of each community council would act as a conduit.

“The chairperson has the opportunity to meet with an officer in person or online each month to discuss the detailed report that is presented to the community council.

“An important part of policing is engaging with our community councils to discuss concerns that matter most to those who live in our areas.”
