Ward team make awards final

The Royal College of Nursing Scotland has announced its finalists in the 2025 RCN Scotland Nurse of the Year Awards – and it includes an entry from Dumfries and Galloway.

Balcary Ward IPCU, from NHS Dumfries and Galloway, is among the finalists for the Mental Health Nursing Award.

These awards highlight nurses across Scotland, celebrating their leadership and accomplishments in the field.

RCN Scotland’s Awards are becoming a key moment in the nursing calendar as a time to celebrate all that is great about our profession in Scotland. We received hundreds of inspiring nominations, making the judges’ role in shortlisting down to our finalists a momentous task. Regardless of the outcome, all our finalists truly demonstrate the daily dedication of nursing staff in delivering the best of nursing care for the people of Scotland,” said Julie Lamberth, RCN Scotland board chair.

The winners will be announced at the ceremony at the National Museum of Scotland, in Edinburgh, on 12 June.
