Study Stars snatch finals spot

A GROUP of students from Dumfries High School is headed to the Young Enterprise Scotland National Finals.

They secured their spot to the nationals at the Dumfries and Galloway regional final at the Cairndale Hotel, beating Annan Academy, Dalbeattie High School, Lockerbie Academy, and Stranraer Academy.

Dumfries’ creation of ‘Study Stars’ led them to victory.

The Young Enterprise Scotland Company Programme is designed for students in S5 and S6 as an opportunity to gain practical experience and insight into the workforce. Through the programme, students create a company, develop it, follow marketing strategies, and tackle promotions.

“The Study Stars team is an inspiration and I wish them every success in the Scottish finals later this year. Setting up and running their own successful company is a wonderful experience and will have given them new skills to take forward into their learning and future careers. So whatever happens at the finals, they are all worthy winners,” said Emma Soanes, Young Enterprise Scotland chief executive.

The finals will be held on May 29 in Glasgow.
