Most popular baby names – is yours on it?

AVA, Jessica and Jack were the most common baby names in Dumfries and Galloway last year.

Figures released by the National Records of Scotland for 2014 show there were 18 boys locally called Jack, while Ava and Jessica shared the top girls’ spot with 11 each.
Making up the rest of the boys’ top ten, in order, were James, Logan, Archie, Charlie, Daniel, Oscar, Connor, Ethan, John and William.
And the girls’ list went: Ellie, Lucy, Emily, Lexi, Molly, Lacey, Sophie, Amelia, Anna, Freya and Leah.
Meanwhile, the most popular names in Scotland were Jack, for the seventh year running, while Emily claimed the girls’ crown knocking Sophie off the top spot.
