A £4000 raid of bracelets, pendants, necklaces and silver cutlery is currently being investigated by police in Dumfries.
The house on Bankend Road was broken into sometime between Friday July 31 and the following Thursday.
Constable Victoria Thomson said: “This break-in took place whilst the occupier was away on holiday and the items stolen are all pieces of jewellery which in total are valued at many thousands of pounds.”
Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area, particularly around3pm on Monday August 3 when a man was seen in the garden of a house.
The only description available is that he was of average build and height and was wearing mirror sunglasses.
In another housebreaking at a house in St Conal’s Square, Kirkconnel, a 50” television was stolen sometime between Monday August 3 and the following Friday.
Meanwhile similar thefts have been reported around the region.
An Annan woman’s home was raided and thieves made off with money, an engagement and eternity ring, GHD straightners and other valuables and wrecked the house in the process.
Speaking last week the 48-year-old victim said: “I was picking up the post from behind the door when my friend said, ‘I think you’ve been burgled’.
“My granddaughter’s books were all over the floor and the kitchen door and stairgate were wide open, so I flew into the kitchen and there was glass everywhere as the back door had been smashed.
