Crowds and sun show up for country fair

THOUSANDS enjoyed the best of the countryside at the Galloway Country Fair at the weekend.

Visitors from all over the region flocked to the two-day sunshine event at Drumlanrig Castle.

They enjoyed a packed programme of rural fun, ranging from gun dogs, clay pigeon and rifle shooting and fly fishing, to bouncy castles, cookery demonstrations and dog agility trials.

Stalls selling clothing, toys, pet supplies and crafts were kept busy, while there was food of every description for hungry visitors.

A kids zone offered inflatables, face painting, a climbing wall, mini motorbikes, horse riding and archery. Meanwhile, tastings of cheese, chutney, cider, cake, chocolate and wine proved popular with adults.
