RECOVERING . . . vets were forced to amputate one of Baby’s front legs after he was shot in Eastriggs
The incident, which happened in Eastriggs sometime on the evening of Tuesday August 18, has shocked the pet’s owner Jacqueline Cordley and many in the local community.
The tabby-coloured tom cat, which is called Baby, managed to return to his home in Auckland Walk around midnight last Tuesday, but vets were unable to save his injured leg.
Condemning the culprit, Constable Julie Rankin, of Annan Police, said: “This is a horrific case of cruelty to animals and the cat must have suffered terribly as it made its way home after being shot.
“I am appealing to anyone in the Eastriggs area who can help in this investigation to contact me at Annan Police Station through the 101 number, or if they want to remain anonymous through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
