Fish and chip shop best in south

A FISH and chips shop in Castle Douglas has been named the best in Lothian, Lothian, Strathclyde, Borders and Dumfries & Galloway.

Moore’s Fish and Chips was this week named the top takeaway in the 2016 National Fish & Chip Awards, organised by Seafish.
And it will now go up against the other Scottish winner, Cromars in St Andrew’s, for the title of best independent chip shop in Scotland.
Over the coming weeks they will be judged further and the regional Scottish winner will go on to the national ceremony.
Congratulating Moore’s, Seafish chief executive Paul Williams said: “The Independent Takeaway Fish and Chip Shop of the Year Award is one of the highest honours to receive as a fish and chip business.
“It’s great to see so many excellent shops through to this stage of the competition. I’d like to offer up my congratulations and wish them the best as they prepare to continue their quest towards winning a regional title, but also thank them for consistently helping us to reinforce the UK’s reputation as the home of the world’s best fish and chips.”
