Police probe 'hit and run' collision

A HIT and run driver is being sought by police after a teenager was injured crossing the road in Annan.

Police are investigating the collision which took place at 2.45 pm on Tuesday in Stapleton Road.
At that time a 19-year-old girl from Carlisle was crossing the road at the Caspian take-away, making her way to work at fish foods factory Pinneys of Scotland.
The girl was struck by a black VW Golf car.
The driver of the car, who is only described as being a young male, stopped to enquire if the pedestrian was okay before driving off.
However, the girl received bruising to her leg and head as a result and was treated at the Cumberland Infirmary for her injuries.
Constable Paula Armstrong at Annan Police Station said: “We are appealing for witnesses to this collision to come forward and indeed the driver of the car himself to come forward in order to clear this matter up.
“In particular we ask that the lady who assisted the injured female pedestrian after the collision call us at Annan on 101.”
