THE work of the Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust has been highlighted in Westminster.

MP Richard Arkless has tabled an Early Day Motion calling on the UK Government to recognise the important work being carried out.
It reads: “That this house celebrates the cultural contribution of JM Barrie to Scottish literature and history; welcomes with great excitement the work of the Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust – created with the vision to open a Centre for Children’s Literature and Storytelling and a Neverland Discovery Garden – in the place where JM Barrie was schooled and drew inspiration for Peter Pan, Moat Brae in Dumfries; urges the continued campaign to inspire children to write, read, learn and imagine; supports the work of the Trust and its determination to aid the regeneration of the local economy and prospects for tourism in the south west of Scotland.”
Following a visit there, Mr Arkless said: “I am hugely impressed by the vision which is being realised through bringing Moat Brae House back to life as a Centre for Children’s Literature and Storytelling.”
The MP added: “I think they have done a fantastic job in transforming a derelict building into a place of learning, inspiration and imagination.
“Although there is still work to do, the Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust have saved this wonderful house for the local community.”
