Call issued for region’s education stars

And people across Dumfries and Galloway are being urged to nominate local schools and teaching professionals that go the extra mile for recognition at the national awards
ceremony.
Entry is open to all publicly funded schools, including secondary, primary, nursery and special schools, and there are 17 award categories recognising and rewarding the dedication of teaching staff and educational supporters.
Encouraging people to cast their vote, Dr Alasdair Allan, Minister for Learning, Science and Scotland’s Languages, said: “Across Scotland, teachers, parents, pupils and community partners are working hard to ensure that all children and young people have equal chances to reach their full potential.”
The closing date for nominations, which can be made at www.scottisheducationawards.org.uk, is Monday February 15 and the winners will then be revealed at an awards ceremony in Glasgow in June.
