Keep safe call

POLICE Scotland is urging members of the public to keep safe over the Christmas and New Year festive period.
Officers say that although it is time for parties, celebrations, fun and catching up with family and friends, it’s vital to plan ahead and be sensible about how much drink is consumed.
Police are also reminding people that the drink driving limit was lowered last year the limit is now 50mg in every 100ml of blood.
Detective Inspector Michael Miller, safer Communities said: “I would urge anyone planning on heading out to please drink responsibly and not to take drugs.
“Don’t let a great night be ruined by the over-consumption of alcohol. We want everyone to enjoy themselves safely this Christmas.”

Police have also issued tips to preventing a night out ending badly by drinking sensibly, not leaving drinks unattended and taking care of each other to make sure everyone gets home safely.
Drivers are also being urged to be mindful that partygoers, particularly those under the influence of alcohol, can step out or stagger onto the road without warning and to slow down in crowded areas.
