Storm warning

WARNINGS of heavy rain, strong winds and flooding have been issued for across Dumfries and Galloway tomorrow.

And preparations are already being made to protect the region.

Amber weather warnings have been given out by the Met Office and more detailed information is expected to be released today. Council officials will be contacting the most at-risk communities to help them plan.

Meanwhile, a meeting was held at the council’s emergency centre in Dumfries on Monday to plan how to respond to the potential impacts and the local authority’s flood risk management team are liaising regularly with SEPA.

Members of the public are asked to take extreme care during the bad weather and pay attention to road safety advice.
