Second hillwalker pronounced dead

A SECOND man has died after getting lost overnight in the Durisdeer area.

Police Scotland confirmed this morning that a second man from the group of three missing walkers has died in Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

He was pronounced dead late last night.

The two men who died are now named as George Crosbie, 73, of Averill Crescent in Dumfries, who was the first to die, and Geoffrey Stewart, 74, of Rotchell Park in Dumfries.

The Procurator Fiscal has been informed.

The third man from the group is recovering in Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.
