A song for our heroes

TWO Dumfriesshire born singers have joined forces for an emotional songwriting project.

Davy Holt, a folk singer based in Inverness but originally from Kirkpatrick Fleming, was approached by Moniaive-based singer Dave McFadzean, who asked him to write a tune for a song he had written.
What eventually took shape was the song ‘Our Everyday Heroes’.
And Dave said: “Being locked down I was moved to pen a song for all the heroes of the epidemic.
“Having come up with the words I realised it needed a good tune and a means of reaching out to get it heard.”
Long time friend Davy Holt has been running a series of live online gigs on his Facebook page ‘The Lockdown Gigs’ from his living room in Inverness, with the 62nd taking place earlier this week.
Dave added: “Davy liked the words and put a fine tune to them.
“He launched and performed ‘Our Everyday Heroes’ during one of his Lockdown Gigs prior to the weekly Thursday night ‘Clap for Carers.”
The song has been a real hit with Davy’s fans and has been shared widely on social media.

Dave commented: “It truly is an anthem for all the folk affected by this tragic event, the front-line heroes, the young, the old, the sick and infirm.
“It is for each and every one of them.”
